I want Yang to continue for the fact he talks about the coming of automation.
It could easily be a big change in our economy.
A lot of low-skill jobs will go bye-bye.
well
there are a lot of low skill jobs which are so unique it wouldnt make sense to automate them
when has stopping the advancement of technology ever succeeded

Even if it is, per-worker productivity will go up. It would require a restructure of how we look at employment but the whole pie will grow.
If we stopped assuming that every individual needs to be a self-sufficient worker unit it wouldn't be a problem. Extended families could group together around a couple of employed family members, all playing support roles like childcare etc.
also the chief engineer should be pro automation dont you think?
I think you might find many engineers concern about automation. We are concern the distruption it will cause.
People think automation is still way off. I don't know about that. Only 20 years ago our computers were just heavy bricks. Now a smartphone beats the Apollo computers hands down!
And yet unemployment is not significantly different and smartphones have not resulted in a net loss of jobs.
(I do believe widespread automation is coming btw)
Because they actually have help us do more or have better access.
I think it's unwise to thing widespread automation is still off.
It's coming, just because you don't see it now, doesn't mean it's not like an iceberg.
I do see it. I just think we can adapt to it.
wouldnt that be something. us lucky bastards wouldnt need to work anymore. Noone ever thought that before.
And it represents new wealth creation.
