The argument would be from a level of 'well being' if we use these words that have ideas behind them and a group of people laugh at them or use them is ways that could be offensive it is not possible to know why a person it laughing at said word. Are you reinforcing their ideas about said group? Like their ideas about blacks people or trans people? Because from what I saw @Clive say it seems like he has a lot of negative opinions about trans people so I would not use the word 'tranny' around him it would support his ideas of that group. Your intent doesn't matter as much as the ideas of those around you and a measure of over all well being
