That's the job of community.

2019-09-02 20:25:59 UTC

If you're talking about local ordinances, sure. I assumed we were talking about fed/state

2019-09-02 20:26:38 UTC

My bad for not clarifying. I don't have an issue if a town or whatever wants to ban something.

2019-09-02 20:54:37 UTC

@Legalize the impact of legal drugs on youth to young to comprehend the consequences is a call to increase the age of emancipation not a call to make drugs illegal

2019-09-02 20:57:09 UTC

A town by its nature should be a "community" with shared values. So if the community wanted its own authoritarian laws thats entirely different than a nation

2019-09-02 21:05:46 UTC

So telling an adult what they can and cannot do with their body is not authoritarian? What is?

2019-09-02 21:07:34 UTC

Suicide should be legal, yes

2019-09-02 21:07:50 UTC

I have the right to die

2019-09-02 21:08:34 UTC

Let people take responsibility for their own actions.

2019-09-02 21:08:49 UTC

And what gives you the aurhority to decide what a right mental state is

2019-09-02 21:08:54 UTC

No, I don't agree that it's the availability of the drugs that causes the addiction. Widespread joblessness, depression and destruction of community cohesion and tradition are causing people to seek escape through drugs.

2019-09-02 21:10:00 UTC

@Legalize pushing progressivism again. Smh my head.

2019-09-02 21:10:08 UTC

;-)

2019-09-02 21:10:08 UTC

And none of you are the wiser.

2019-09-02 21:11:40 UTC

I claim no authority over another persons actions

2019-09-02 21:12:54 UTC

So you should be given the authority to force me to live because you perceive its better for society?

2019-09-02 21:13:32 UTC

Right to live, is not the same as being forced to live

2019-09-02 21:13:49 UTC

That someone is me

2019-09-02 21:14:07 UTC

Your saying i have no agency in determining wether i live or die

2019-09-02 21:15:31 UTC

Isn’t even Ron Paul very anti-euthanasia?

2019-09-02 21:15:50 UTC

You contradicted yourself, the right to have a gun doesn't mean you have to carry a gun. The right to live, doesn't mean you have to live

2019-09-02 21:16:38 UTC

Not rescinding my right to live, im choosing not to exercise it

2019-09-02 21:17:25 UTC

You do not have the right to force me to exercise that right

2019-09-02 21:18:25 UTC

Should a persons right to live be justification to make them wear a motorcycle helmet?

2019-09-02 21:19:29 UTC

Doesn't matter, the right to life is also a right to death. Guarantees my own agency in the decision

2019-09-02 21:20:47 UTC

There is no way you can't see its unethical for you to take authority over how someone chooses to live and end their life

2019-09-02 21:21:15 UTC

Im not debating the right to live, im debating your right to refuse me death

2019-09-02 21:22:28 UTC

Okay, your just trolling, thanks for that

2019-09-02 21:25:06 UTC

🤔

2019-09-02 21:26:46 UTC

if you have the right to something you also have the right to not use it

2019-09-02 21:26:57 UTC

like how if you have the right to vote you must also have the right to abstain

2019-09-02 21:27:36 UTC

right, so you should then have the right to kill yourself, which is abstaining from your right to life, no?

2019-09-02 21:29:06 UTC

thats like saying I cant abstain from voting because it's "removing someone's right to vote"

2019-09-02 21:29:28 UTC

or that I cant sell my gun because it violates my 2A rights

2019-09-02 21:29:46 UTC

moot

2019-09-02 21:29:59 UTC

moot

2019-09-02 21:30:12 UTC

if the inverse of a right violates that right, then selling your gun violates your rights

2019-09-02 21:30:27 UTC

it's completely illogical to hold that standard

2019-09-02 21:31:36 UTC

you're trying to construct a standard that applies to one specific right and nothing else so you can get around a difficult issue

2019-09-02 21:32:13 UTC

no, it's moot because the answer doesnt actually matter
