or rather people are having their babies get it because some childhood development "professional" tells them if they don't it'll cause developmental disabilities
ok ya thats stupid
we saw an IBCLC who specialixed in tongue tie and release, but she said Xandria didnt need one, it was a position issue
Unnecessary surgery on kids is child abuse.
Well that's when you get involved with pediatric specialists who are obsessed with intervention
Ive asked if it was possibly the tongue tie, but I took classes on speech in college for my english degree so I was asking the therapist pointed questions about if she was capable of making certain movements
glottal stops, voices and un voices fricatives and plossives
I'm going to have to look it up
I honestly don't know what it is LOL
There's a lot of people with various kinds of oral ties, labial and otherwise who have no problems.
The mechanics of speech is very interesting.
it really is
she said she didnt think it was a problem. Xandria is persnickety always has been
her dr told me if she ddint walk by 18 months there was likely a problem. Got up at 18 months 3 days and walked 4 feet like shes been doing it forever
I called her a booger when I saw it lol
at least I think I did lol
A lot of that type of developmental milestone stuff is bullshit. Once again go look at where it comes from.
And then be surprised they tell people such serious things with such little real data and evidence behind their proclamations.
A friend of mine is all bitter and twisted because he was failing IQ tests etc as a kiddie. He is perfectly fine. Very highly developed visual reasoning and eyeball engineering. Very waek at symbolic and verbal skills. Just doesn't get poetry. But now he has this chip on his shoulder about being crap at IQ tests when he was little.
A lot of the standards used are still from the 1940s. Which is baffling to me, be pediatric, natal, pregnancy research is stifled for the obvious reason of people don't want to risk their kids.
i trust my midwives over my drs most of the time, but when i was pregnant I had both.
It just depends on the doctor, but that's with anything medical TBH.
I wouldn't trust anyone, but I'm a cynical bastard, and I have access to all the scientific journals for free.
well it was nice talking with everyone I have to step out for a bit ! cheers
I liked my dr, but hospitals would have been a bad idea for me. Drs give me anxiety and so do hospitals so that would have stalled labor and possibly caused all kinds of things I did not want to happen. So I had a home birth with 2 skilled midwives who could do anything but an epi and a c section
@Catboi sorry I misspoke. My mate felt he had failed at I Q tests. I Q test were never designed for that purpose and are mostly being misapplied. They are a poor metric.
IQ tests aren't a poor metric.
They serve their purpose.
As we've moved standardized testing away from IQ tests educational quality has only been .... hurt by it.
The SAT used to be a form of IQ test, but it was changed in the 70's.
Now it's a knowledge test.
@Catboi sorry. Yes they were misspelled in his case. I studied up on IQ tests a while back and came to the conclusion they needed to be carefully intereprested. Out of my filed anyways. I an a engineer.
I'm just argumentative 😉
I'm an engineer too
a "software *engineer*" 🤣
Im just writing and popping in to see what yall are saying lol
@Catboi No you are right. I avoid the topic altogether with my mate. It sets him off.
Anybody know if the stream from tonight got taken down or if it's just processing?
probably processing
it's usually not ready so soon after for me.
