I've only had to sit through one, and compared to stories I've heard, it wasn't that bad. Still, I think I would have preferred working through a break or two if it meant not having to sit through the HR guy doing that bullshit chummy, friendly 'I actually give a shit about you,' routine.

Thankfully I've never had to deal with any of that shit. My job is definitely not PC. We use a swimsuit model calendar and one of my coworkers has topless women on his toolbox. It's pretty great when one of my coworkers has to ask me "What the fuck is binary? What the hell does it mean to be non-binary" and then when I explain it, he goes "I don't know man, that shit is all just... pshh, it's fucking weird. I don't get it."

Although the company I work for is pretty conservative (large insurance corporation), they have dabbled in the PC stuff like pandering in emails. I think it's just about image. Keep their image clean and money rolling in.
