i'm prooobably actually gonna go for a router over a knee mill, easier to cut front panels and such plus i don't need to work with steel
everything i do with metal aluminum is fine
Where do you purchase aluminium?
aluminium tree
he probably just has a local supplier
right now i just have a couple fdm machines, they're neat and all and i can work with a loooot of materials with em since my hotend gets up to 300C and i have a pretty good fume-catching setup, but like you can only do thermoplastics with those
or just harvests it from shit like i do
sure nylon is cool, polyurethane is cool, but i want metal too
i live down the road from the industrial side of town
i can get any material i need, hell i can usually ask a buddy for some scrap and they go "yeah sure take i"
i harvest shit as well though, rebuilding atm but i have a filament extruder for recycling plastics
o shit cool
Anyone have an SLA/DLP printer?
60/40 virgin abs resin / recycled shells gives you serviceable plastic blend for anything where strength isnt critical
i'm looking at getting a dlp printer
wait for the wanhao d7 to hit v2
that's what i'm doing
I'm comfortable with the idea * of building one
be aware though uv resin is about as expensive as good quality rtv silicone
it's not cheap like fdm
$20 a liter?
try $60-$100
Holy fuck
for decent quality resin
But the resolution on dem parts
i'm sure there's some horrible shit resin that doesnt work right and takes too long to cure for $20/L
but you don't want that for sla/dlp printer
that's more for molding parts
Yup, i'm guessing that's the difference
between the regular resin that's 20$ a litre
Curing time
there's also the 3d printing markup
like how virgin abs pellets costs next to nothing but abs filament for 3d printer can cost $30/kg for a decent brand
Cant you combat that with an insanely bright UV projection solution though?
probably
give it a shot and lemme know how it goes
I know you can get 50W UV leds
it may make me less hesitant to go for dlp
and i can rig an adequate cooling system
i plan to sell miniatures to local tabletop people anyway and that'll offset the cost of even expensive resin pretty quick, but
