yeah gearbest actually beat prices on flash sales pretty often
just don't pay attention to what they list as their "original price"
sometimes they manage to beat taobao prices
what is really nice
the only experience I had with them was that tablet a few days ago

Gearbest no middle man, ali is middle man
because thats inflated as all, just check products pricing every now and then and keep an eye on their newsletter because they do email only discounts too sometimes

charges up the battery too so it works as a battery charger
