its mainly for prototyping

2017-06-22 18:24:48 UTC

never really thought about it until now

2017-06-22 18:25:07 UTC

2017-06-22 18:25:08 UTC

realistically most of the things you can make are cheaper with moulds and shit but those are expensive so a 3d printer helps in pre-production

2017-06-22 18:25:53 UTC

but im just saying the initial price and the price for the materials is somwhat expensive and doesnt seem to justify the pricetag

2017-06-22 18:26:02 UTC

and its much easier to 3d print a replacement part than to order one

2017-06-22 18:26:09 UTC

if you can even order one to begin with

2017-06-22 18:26:17 UTC

@кот 3D printers are very meme-y at the moment, yeah. But you can prototype real easily and make cases and such for li'l projects that don't require durable cases. I guess.

2017-06-22 18:26:30 UTC

if you can even order one to begin with

2017-06-22 18:26:40 UTC

they're not really meant for basic consumers

2017-06-22 18:26:49 UTC

Oh. Yeah, Windguy mentioned prototyping already. 👍

2017-06-22 18:26:52 UTC

Indeed.

2017-06-22 18:26:56 UTC

"Makers", as it were.

2017-06-22 18:26:59 UTC

2017-06-22 18:27:00 UTC

you dont buy a 3d printer without having a real purpose for it obviously

2017-06-22 18:27:20 UTC

if youre buying a 3d printer so you can do stupid shit like in that make magazine article then you're not the target audience

2017-06-22 18:27:41 UTC

if youre buying a 3d printer so you can do stupid shit like in that make magazine article then you're not the target audience

2017-06-22 18:28:20 UTC

yeah alright i kinda get it but what would you use it for to justify the pricetag i cant think of anyone getting thier moneys worth

2017-06-22 18:28:44 UTC

what if you're prototyping a product to sell down the line for profits

2017-06-22 18:28:56 UTC

you're not too bright are you

2017-06-22 18:29:02 UTC

seems not

2017-06-22 18:30:28 UTC

what we're trying to say is that *normal* people don't buy 3d printers, its universities, engineering firms, schools, studios, etc

2017-06-22 18:30:28 UTC

power users or "makers" can buy 3d printers, its a free market

2017-06-22 18:31:16 UTC

mkay

2017-06-22 18:31:19 UTC

got it

2017-06-22 18:57:04 UTC

3d printers can get you a reasonable side income

2017-06-22 18:57:31 UTC

You can also make prototypes of shit

2017-06-22 18:57:37 UTC

Especially if you can model

2017-06-22 18:58:34 UTC

My usage will be split between offering 3d prints and prototyping shit i've been thinking about

2017-06-22 19:01:33 UTC

mkay

2017-06-22 19:01:37 UTC

neato

2017-06-22 19:02:07 UTC

@Tribit ohey you bought a UGEE too

2017-06-22 19:02:22 UTC

nah someone else was interested in one

2017-06-22 19:02:48 UTC

just got my ve monk+

2017-06-22 19:05:02 UTC

2017-06-22 19:05:12 UTC

2017-06-22 19:25:33 UTC

I am waiting for my UGEE

2017-06-22 19:25:35 UTC

:^)

2017-06-22 19:30:50 UTC

Who will print a Mitu esc key for their lolita mech keyboard with their chink 3d printer?

2017-06-22 19:48:33 UTC

@Windatica Wew, Monks

2017-06-22 19:48:47 UTC

putting them on is nasty
