mostly stolen bicycles

2017-06-29 14:20:11 UTC

Mine stopped being good after smartphones became accessible

2017-06-29 14:20:25 UTC

Before that there was some wild shit at some wild prices

2017-06-29 14:20:36 UTC

sometimes at 3am someone on gumtree tries to sell a stolen laptop for £30 but I'm reluctant to go out and meet someone like that

2017-06-29 14:20:47 UTC

MACBOOK £30 URGENT BUY NOW

2017-06-29 14:20:52 UTC

lel

2017-06-29 14:21:00 UTC

CANT WAIT TILL MORNING; HOT PRODUCT

2017-06-29 14:21:12 UTC

Atleast you're in for some ass rape if you go for it

2017-06-29 14:22:04 UTC

yeah sometimes there's a listing like 10-20 laptops joblot for £80

2017-06-29 14:22:10 UTC

and they're all clearly stolen

2017-06-29 14:22:30 UTC

ohhh

2017-06-29 14:22:35 UTC

we got this shit with intel SSDs

2017-06-29 14:22:38 UTC

but not exactly

2017-06-29 14:22:45 UTC

they rip the serial numbers and claim them for warranty

2017-06-29 14:22:52 UTC

and then sell the perfectly working ssds with no warranty

2017-06-29 14:22:53 UTC

for cheap

2017-06-29 14:23:22 UTC

70 euro gets you a 512GB drive

2017-06-29 14:23:44 UTC

Well... i guess this is technically less shady

2017-06-29 14:24:55 UTC

it's too easy to be savvy now

2017-06-29 14:25:10 UTC

I hate when you try to buy something from a charity shop and the old lady starts spouting ebay prices

2017-06-29 14:25:15 UTC

we're not on ebay, doll

2017-06-29 14:25:35 UTC

some dinged up barely functional piece of tech
"it goes for £50 on ebay you know!"

2017-06-29 14:25:49 UTC

yeah in good condition, not sprayed with old woman perfume so you can't smell the shit

2017-06-29 14:26:35 UTC

pisses me off

2017-06-29 14:26:44 UTC

Just cause somebody's selling it at that price doesnt mean someone will buy it

2017-06-29 14:28:00 UTC

I have these hangars near me which sell stuff bought in bulk from sweden. The emplyees dont know shit about electronics, so it's quite easy to buy damaged laptops and repair them for further selling.

2017-06-29 14:28:42 UTC

They probably are considered waste

2017-06-29 14:29:05 UTC

Once found a lenovo with a ripped off keyboard and no battery for 15 euros.

2017-06-29 14:29:29 UTC

Which one though

2017-06-29 14:29:47 UTC

over here the UK charity shops need to have every piece of electronics tested by a specialist before it can be legally sold so most stuff gets binned

2017-06-29 14:30:00 UTC

not worth the hassle to them to find someone who can test an old PC

2017-06-29 14:30:07 UTC

I'd barely take anything older than the x220 for free <:alismirk:230784726615588865>

2017-06-29 14:30:47 UTC

I used an X200 for ages just fine, most old computers just need an SSD

2017-06-29 14:30:49 UTC

and that's it

2017-06-29 14:31:18 UTC

better be ironic

2017-06-29 14:32:42 UTC

Ah yes, the thinkpads.

2017-06-29 14:33:06 UTC

I think the lenovo was a b50 or something as i recall.

2017-06-29 14:33:20 UTC

Nothing much, but still was a nice find.

2017-06-29 14:34:11 UTC

@Transience#0182 it might be hackintosh

2017-06-29 14:34:31 UTC

Those laptops can still be used for servers
