2017-07-19 19:21:50 UTC

does chinks make good usb c cables?

2017-07-19 19:22:13 UTC

u green makes good ones right?

2017-07-19 19:24:49 UTC

blitzwolf, ugreen, orico seem to make p gud quality cables in general.

2017-07-19 19:24:52 UTC

@Windatica is it running off usb power or its own power supply

2017-07-19 19:24:58 UTC

usb

2017-07-19 19:26:58 UTC

this is gonna sound like some audiophile bullshit but

2017-07-19 19:27:16 UTC
2017-07-19 19:27:21 UTC

try a usb isolator or make up a special cable

2017-07-19 19:27:41 UTC

you want a 5v 500mA-or-more wall wart, a 10k resistor, the relevant jacks

2017-07-19 19:28:12 UTC

@s3bbe maybe i go for something more expensive its not everyday you need to buy new cables <:thenk:329322130804047872>

2017-07-19 19:28:33 UTC

unless you like breaking them

2017-07-19 19:28:42 UTC

basically a resistor on the computer's end of the usb power so it sees something there, and a separate 5v and gnd rails from wall wart for the dac

2017-07-19 19:29:04 UTC

I have a blitzwolf microusb and while I've only had it like a week it's by far the best cable I've ever had

2017-07-19 19:29:10 UTC

or, easier, just try using a usb isolator

2017-07-19 19:29:18 UTC

im looking at blitzwolf cables right now

2017-07-19 19:31:05 UTC

@Windatica do you hear any noise when using other usb devices and/or does the hum have a really consistent frequency and just kinda get louder when you raise the volume

2017-07-19 19:32:34 UTC

my usb 5v lines are pretty flat but then i have a fairly nice motherboard

2017-07-19 19:33:14 UTC

there's some decent possibility of the power lines being so noisy they're actually affecting the amplifier bit of the usb dac

2017-07-19 19:33:16 UTC

there is a constant noise that gets louder if a loud noise is played, but if I change my volume it stays at a constant volume

2017-07-19 19:33:56 UTC

alright yeah, you wanna filter that usb power or replace with external supply

2017-07-19 19:37:41 UTC

grab a usb isolator

2017-07-19 19:37:50 UTC

yeah i totally have those laying aronudnd

2017-07-19 19:38:15 UTC
2017-07-19 19:39:09 UTC

that's weird though @Windatica which one did you get and also what's the source device, are there any hubs or w/e between source and dac, or ???

2017-07-19 19:39:23 UTC

's been a good while since i've heard of this being a real problem

2017-07-19 19:39:42 UTC

its in the thread

2017-07-19 19:41:49 UTC

i have it connected directly to my motherboard

2017-07-19 19:42:42 UTC

i wish there was a 3.5mm switcher i could buy

2017-07-19 19:43:01 UTC

would rather not diy one
