Had no idea people were dumb enough to actually try mining themselves

2017-10-18 01:32:39 UTC

That's 8 dollars a month assuming the value doesn't increase?

2017-10-18 01:44:37 UTC

It's not going to increase anytime soon

2017-10-18 01:45:22 UTC

I'm not doing it for profits.

2017-10-18 01:45:37 UTC

Just want a hobby to mess around with.

2017-10-18 01:45:46 UTC

Not actually going to invest anything serious into it,

2017-10-18 01:46:18 UTC

And might just re-sell it as a ready-made kit for someone like me looking for a pet project eventually.

2017-10-18 01:46:34 UTC

It's not really a hobby if you just turn it on and mine.

2017-10-18 01:46:44 UTC

I'm going to mine a wide variety of coins,

2017-10-18 01:47:16 UTC

It can mine any Scrypt algorithm-based coin.

2017-10-18 01:48:14 UTC

So Litecoin, Megacoin, Dogecoin, Belacoin and Novacoin.

2017-10-18 01:48:33 UTC

If I wanted real profits I'd just buy crypto coins directly.

2017-10-18 01:48:36 UTC

Which is what I also did.

2017-10-18 01:56:12 UTC

Weren't you going to get into model trains?

2017-10-18 01:57:13 UTC

I ran into a problem.

2017-10-18 01:57:23 UTC

Renting out an apartment,

2017-10-18 01:57:55 UTC

Landlord forbids running power tools larger than a cordless drill.

2017-10-18 01:58:34 UTC

I'd need a half-sized lathe to begin producing metal parts, and without it, I might as well just buy an already-made engine and say it's a "hobby", but where's the fun in that?

2017-10-18 02:00:13 UTC

>>>>>>>>>>buying a fucking used crypto miner

2017-10-18 02:00:20 UTC

USEd

2017-10-18 02:00:26 UTC

I know, I know,

2017-10-18 02:21:51 UTC

How would he even enforce that?

2017-10-18 02:22:09 UTC

If it's a safety concern buying a mining machine is probably more a hazard

2017-10-18 02:22:23 UTC

Not a safety concern.

2017-10-18 02:22:26 UTC

The thing's loud as hell,

2017-10-18 02:22:34 UTC

Especially when machining metal,

2017-10-18 02:22:38 UTC

He doesn't want noise complaints.

2017-10-18 02:25:15 UTC

Oh, it is pretty loud.

2017-10-18 02:26:48 UTC

The problem is, the motor itself is very quiet, but the squealing you get when machining aluminum breaches 85 decibels, and after 85 decibels hearing damage can occur, and while I have protection, neighbors can file a noise complaint because it's MUCH higher than the allowed noise here.

2017-10-18 02:27:15 UTC

So sadly it seems for the time-being, or until I move elsewhere, model trains are out of my reach.

2017-10-18 02:27:38 UTC

Why not take up carving?

2017-10-18 02:27:49 UTC

Quiet and you learn knife skills.

2017-10-18 02:29:15 UTC

Actually, I used to do a bit of woodturning, but once never really liked carving.

2017-10-18 02:29:28 UTC

I suppose it wasn't really my thing.

2017-10-18 02:29:35 UTC

I've recently got interested in investing,

2017-10-18 02:29:38 UTC

And one thing led to another,

2017-10-18 02:30:01 UTC

And I'm going to invest in crypto for a bit just to learn the ropes,

2017-10-18 02:30:10 UTC

Then I'll seriously invest into silver.

2017-10-18 02:30:28 UTC

>silver

2017-10-18 02:30:31 UTC

Why?
