@Josam p safe, glazing used in ceramics has to be cooked in an oven, that shit won't flake, unless you drop it, and that wouldn't be flake but pieces

2017-12-05 18:40:48 UTC

How do you know that it has been in an oven?

2017-12-05 18:40:53 UTC

even if you ate those, high temp crystalized structures are not something our stomachs are made for

`n lead glazes tints provided by impurities render greenish to brownish casts, with aesthetic possibilities that are not easily controlled in the kiln. The Romans used lead glazes for high-quality oil lamps and drinking cups.[1] At the same time in China, green-glazed pottery dating back to the Han period (25–220 AD) gave rise eventually to the sancai or three-color Tang Dynasty ceramics, where the white clay body was coated with a layer of lead glaze and fired at a temperature of 800 degrees C. Lead oxide was the principal flux in the glaze; polychrome effects were obtained by using as coloring agents copper (which turns green), iron (which turns brownish yellow), and less often manganese and cobalt (which turns blue).`

2017-12-05 18:43:07 UTC

romans and ancient chinks used it

@Maxumym @not_a_bot Yeah but in a nice normal pottery, the lead glaze isnt an issue because it is nicely sealed. Similarly, arsenic containing releasing agents are used in a lot of industrial kilns - normally fine as everything is properly washed. But I'm not trusting any fucking chink on aliexpress to actually take that care

2017-12-05 19:18:24 UTC
