yeah, all the cheap shields are chinese and I've never had a problem
you'd feel it a few hours after if it wasn't doing its job
they do the job for blocking most harmful radiation even without the auto darlening

tbh all weather notebooks are pretty handy if you find yourself needing/wanting to jot stuff down out and about
stuff it in a back pocket and there it is when you need it
