2018-03-31 00:14:24 UTC

dont break my dreams

2018-03-31 00:14:24 UTC

it's like $150 on hobbyking

2018-03-31 00:14:38 UTC

im an ausbong so dont forget a lot of this shit isnt available

2018-03-31 00:14:39 UTC

and out of stock atm, but

2018-03-31 00:14:43 UTC

just find a way to earn some money back with that shit

2018-03-31 00:14:56 UTC

@Frostjunkie nah i got other plans for shit

2018-03-31 00:15:04 UTC

dont care about making money back with a 3d printer

2018-03-31 00:15:08 UTC

the only semi-reasonable option cheaper than the x3 i can think of is a maylan m200

2018-03-31 00:15:16 UTC

it's a couple bucks cheaper and like

2018-03-31 00:15:23 UTC

why not any of the i3 clones

2018-03-31 00:15:25 UTC

fkn 1/12 the build volume

2018-03-31 00:15:25 UTC

tiny

2018-03-31 00:15:34 UTC

the x3 is baaasically an i3 clone

2018-03-31 00:15:59 UTC

the aluminum frame is more rigid than the more direct i3 clone i3 clones' frames though

2018-03-31 00:16:18 UTC

ringing artifacts are a big problem with the acrylic sheet frames and even most steel sheet frames

2018-03-31 00:16:52 UTC

doubt id care

2018-03-31 00:17:02 UTC

i have like 0 standards for this shit

2018-03-31 00:17:07 UTC

you will if you're printing headphone baffles

2018-03-31 00:17:10 UTC

nah

2018-03-31 00:17:21 UTC

ive been cutting them out of plastics by hand with some shears

2018-03-31 00:17:26 UTC

accuracy means fuck all to me

2018-03-31 00:17:42 UTC

i can sand shit down and add fillers as necessary

2018-03-31 00:17:42 UTC

regardless you're gonna have a hard time finding anything cheaper than a tronxy x3 that's at all worth the effort of making it run

2018-03-31 00:18:02 UTC

even if you go full diy

2018-03-31 00:18:31 UTC

ye of little faith

2018-03-31 00:18:40 UTC

hell, upgrading my wanhao i3 to use the chimera instead of the stock hotend has cost more than an x3

2018-03-31 00:19:21 UTC

and i cut so many corners, especially on the electronics

Anet A8 has gone up in price it seems

2018-03-31 00:36:44 UTC

slightly

2018-03-31 00:37:28 UTC

if you really wanted to go budget you could just order ramps/stepper motors/bearings /e3d v6 clone/heated bed/smooth rods

2018-03-31 00:38:00 UTC

and build a prusa frame with a sheet of plywood and threaded rods

2018-03-31 00:44:08 UTC

maybe end up with something like that

2018-03-31 00:47:00 UTC

arduino mega +ramps + stepper drivers + cooling for the stepper drivers is gonna be like $30, if you cheap out, you need _minimum_ four steppers, one for each axis and one for extruder, that's gonna be another $40, hotend + heater + thermistor will be another $15 or so, then the rods, belts, bearings, bearing blocks, couplers, small hardware, etc. you can expect to spend at _least_ another $50 on, and if you don't have someone to 3d print carriages and the like for you expect to spend a cool hundred bucks more

2018-03-31 00:47:40 UTC

kits have gotten below the price point of diy unless you already have most of the parts on hand from other projects

2018-03-31 07:23:34 UTC

Do not update your mi mix 2 to Oreo, the file picker is broken

2018-03-31 07:29:47 UTC

It's impossible to select any file
