@Fevs But look at it in this way, the third ammendment exists, because the nation does not want troops to just occupy a persons house for any period of time and use the excuse of "Oh I am a federal soldier, I am allowed to do this".

When feds are staking out someone's house, they'll often occupy a neighbor's house and shoot their dog

@Fevs But it is in place, because a soldier could just be a slack job, and will occupy a persons house because they feel like it.

@Fevs Oh, I forgot to mention as well, that in the case the government really needs to occupy it, they can get warrants and what not that will allow them to occupy the house, bypassing the 3rd ammendment entirely.
