There's also cheaper keyboards that have media keys on the F* buttons but that's not exactly dedicated

2018-10-29 20:05:01 UTC

2018-10-29 20:05:59 UTC

2018-10-29 20:10:01 UTC

ancient buddhist peace symbol and red toilet paper book of communism

2018-10-29 20:10:09 UTC

sounds like a good combination

2018-10-29 20:18:31 UTC

So is cheap Chinese shipping going away?

2018-10-29 20:22:40 UTC

Not soon.

2018-10-29 20:46:42 UTC

Is there a recommended Chrome cast from Ali? I'm just after something that will let me push YouTube to my TV. My TV already has Netflix, Amazon etc on it.

2018-10-29 20:57:27 UTC

@(import (srfi 151)) expect EU crackdown on it by 2020

2018-10-29 20:57:50 UTC

@esdeca Kodi

2018-10-29 20:58:09 UTC

@Tribit I meant to the US. Didn't we withdraw from some postal treaty?

2018-10-29 20:58:33 UTC

yeah but it to will take a year or so to go into effect

2018-10-29 21:01:43 UTC

So you're saying I could hoard and resell with a small markup?

2018-10-29 21:03:04 UTC

Maybe

2018-10-29 21:04:04 UTC

theres lots of people doing that already

2018-10-29 21:04:07 UTC

so good luck

2018-10-29 21:05:15 UTC

Papa Trumpu is gonna negotiate a better rate for the USA, or have the UPA remove China's "developing country" status, just you wait

2018-10-29 21:05:32 UTC

Sure…

2018-10-29 21:06:17 UTC

Wouldn't surprise me if china front a good chunk of the money to subsidize it tbh. But its going to cost more definitely.

2018-10-29 21:06:47 UTC

This is really untenable for pretty much every developed country tbh

2018-10-29 21:06:56 UTC

@Julian yeah, margins would be pretty small on sales that aren't guaranteed, so kinda risky I guess.

2018-10-29 21:09:00 UTC

how will they crack down on it?

2018-10-29 21:10:02 UTC

Most shipping companies are state monopolies so it would be easy as the government also is customs.

2018-10-29 21:11:16 UTC

Unless the chinks decide to get into privatized couriers, which will be massively expensive the western postal services can easily tell them to fuck off and pay more.

2018-10-29 21:12:19 UTC

Might be blowback but the people in charge of that aren't elected and the bureaucracy moves in tides, not waves so it wouldn't matter who is in charge anyway.

2018-10-29 21:14:56 UTC

Oh, there is a third option 100% mechanized sorting and sorting centers where you go to it.

2018-10-29 21:16:23 UTC

Which have the same problems of overhead, rent and access as retail stores.

2018-10-29 21:16:34 UTC

wouldn't it be better if they set up automated factories in burgerlands

2018-10-29 21:16:50 UTC

with highly advanced 3d printers shitting out stuff as ordered

2018-10-29 21:16:55 UTC

No, the whole reason shit is cheap is because china has no regulations.

2018-10-29 21:17:12 UTC

I believe that 3d printer factories are the way of the future

2018-10-29 21:17:28 UTC

not the near future but far future

2018-10-29 21:17:31 UTC

Robotics that advanced are not going to be a thing until at least 50 years.

2018-10-29 21:17:35 UTC

for them to become viable

2018-10-29 21:18:26 UTC

Yeah, maybe 50 years but even then its 11 dollars an hour for people and moving overhead or 200 million upfront and compete with people working 4 dollars an hour.

2018-10-29 21:19:19 UTC

isn't china becoming more expensive

2018-10-29 21:19:24 UTC

and stuff is moving to pajeet land

2018-10-29 21:21:10 UTC

Not really, the pajeets never had a large and centralized movement to advance, private or govt. They are definitely getting there but I would not hold out any hope due to cultural and economic problems in thier own border.
