We are sure and certain that New Zealand post fucked it up in transit
As it was sent in perfect working order and arrived with screen damage
What I'm not sure about is what specific element of the LCD screen is faulty
I tried right now to look at teardowns and no one disassembles the screen.
@Adam W Because my gf keeps fucking breaking them
I fucking hate the bitch
The glass is probably adhered to the body, so you probably need a heat gun/hair dryer to get to it.
fucking same
i mean apart from the hating the bitch
but why are gfs so good at breaking fucking cables
Which if that goes wrong, you need to buy new glass.
He'll probably buy new glass anyway
Doesn't hurt to try
It's just that finding parts for it is probably really hard.
The parcel has an insurance cover of up to 2000 NZD
Because of how it was courier and has signature and tracking code
Which is why I'm saying it's easier for them to just cop the full price of a brand new laptop
I'm not repairing it if it's the fault of New Zealand post
oh yeah
wait do you get to keep the laptop after claiming insurance?
That works too I guess
But I'm not too sure about the finalized logistics of it all
If I do get to keep the faulty laptop I'll send it to my younger brother
And then organise a screen repair when it becomes available
But as of right now xiaomi is a very new brand in New Zealand and as such repair shops are very unlikely to handle repairs for xiaomi laptops in a timely manner
which exact model do you have?
@Adam W It's like in their DNA I swear
There's one flagship store in Sylvia Park, Auckland that opened earlier this month
I bought like 6 cables from Lithuania
And that's that
She has broken like 5 of them
Is your gf also fucking messy?
Of course there are licensed retailers like PB tech that do have a location in the city I live in
If it's the 13"
But like I said it's highly unlikely that they can facilitate a repair this early in xiaomi's venture into New Zealand
I mean I appreciate the thought of sending links to replacement screens
But since it's New Zealand post fault of damaging is in the post then we're going to claim the insurance out of it
This is their problem to deal with
That's if you end up keeping it, but yeah having the post deal with it is the best decision.
