Kinda regret not just getting a 12' board and flattening it out and glueing the aluminum on.

2019-01-16 23:07:30 UTC

I was worried about heat, but they're fucking LED strips, they don't generate shit for heat.

2019-01-16 23:07:43 UTC

I've got those little clips up that the aluminum snaps into.

2019-01-16 23:08:33 UTC

2x50w led with passive cooling generates barely 80c heat on casted light thrower(material of cast==chinknium)

2019-01-16 23:08:51 UTC

Led strips.. Maybe +3c ambient

2019-01-16 23:09:15 UTC

Worst temps come from the transformer/powerblock

2019-01-16 23:10:26 UTC

I specced everything out for worst-case and then totally missed all the reasons that would never be an issue.

2019-01-16 23:11:04 UTC

I mean as long as you dont use +5 meters on single line

2019-01-16 23:11:08 UTC

Its all okay

2019-01-16 23:12:07 UTC

It's like 4x 3m lines.

2019-01-16 23:12:41 UTC

what spacing per meter

2019-01-16 23:13:01 UTC

What do you mean by spacing?

2019-01-16 23:13:13 UTC

Leds per meter

2019-01-16 23:15:24 UTC

!answer 0.025*120*3

2019-01-16 23:15:25 UTC

9

2019-01-16 23:15:48 UTC

9A per 3 meter*

2019-01-16 23:16:11 UTC

Wut

2019-01-16 23:16:27 UTC

It's 12v, and 18w/meter

2019-01-16 23:16:34 UTC

That's not 9a

2019-01-16 23:16:53 UTC

A number was missing

2019-01-16 23:21:04 UTC

Oh single colors so probly not 25ma per led

2019-01-16 23:25:08 UTC

!answer 0.02 * 120 *3

2019-01-16 23:25:08 UTC

7.2

2019-01-16 23:27:17 UTC

Each of 4 runs is only using around 4.5a, power supply can do around 25a in peak-for-this-area-ever temps with zero cooling, 40a in why-would-you-visit-texas-in-the-summer heat if it's just mounted on a file cabinet to sink heat, each run has a 12AWG cable for power. So it's a bit overspecced.

2019-01-16 23:29:02 UTC

That's why I regretted caring about the heat with the aluminum, since it didn't matter.

2019-01-16 23:31:00 UTC

Do 2835s really suck only 6-7mA

2019-01-16 23:31:10 UTC

When they are single color

2019-01-16 23:32:57 UTC

These are also $90/5m Yuji LEDs, not $3 generic Aliexpress rolls, they might just be more efficient

2019-01-16 23:34:45 UTC

Doubt as smd leds usualy take up to 60mA to produce white light afaik on any sane lumen scale (25+) at their usage voltage (3.3-5)

2019-01-16 23:36:12 UTC

It's 1000 lumen... It doesn't specify is that's per roll or meter though

2019-01-16 23:36:41 UTC

So they're probably just dimmer. Usually high-CRI is.

2019-01-16 23:36:46 UTC

If its per roll of 5 meters

2019-01-16 23:38:40 UTC

Neat :D My ceiling is almost brighter than my flashlight.

2019-01-16 23:45:11 UTC

Mouser does not even know such leds exist :D
