from what I am seeing online, kits for making a GBA backlit are like 50-70USD. So even if you get a GBA on a decent deal, you will manage to save very little over the 95 of that one. Then you have to install the kit yourself. So the 95 isn't bad if you really want one. Had no idea the kits were so expensive.

just getting gameboy SP for same money

at that price point you may get a 3ds, hack it and play gba roms natively
