"That's where my sergeant used the first bit of dynamite against the commies. They were coming around the corner, right? And he had planted it right there"
"It was retaliation for the molotovs you see. We used to use smoke bombs to disrupt their gatherings, but they started bringing water to put them out"
"So this was to scare them. Anyways, the one guy saw the fuse burning and ran over to stomp out the flame, thinking it was a smoke bomb"
"And then, well, you know, his foot ended up [gestures towards the other end of the park] over there"
Wew
The norwegian fascists were not actually fans of Quisling 😄
In fact, you could make the opposite arguement. A lot of it was organized by former resistance fighters
Which doesn't look great for the government I guess. You call them war heroes in 1945 and then 20 years later they're a political fringe
And having read some more about Quisling... it is certainly harder to pass judgement on him
Mosley?
Wait Wiz are you in Norway?
Yep
Hes looking for his Norwegian wife
Lucky
Here's a history lesson none of you asked for
Finland is cooler
Is that The lesson
: )
The winter war against Finland gave the allies an opportunity to open up a front against Russia
But that was contingent on getting permission from Sweden/Norway to land troops in Narvik
The brits believed in being able to fight a 2 front war in that regard
Yeah Operation Unthinkable wasn't it?
Since when did England go to war with Russia
It was a proposed plan Deus.
There we go
Maybe you need to check out Churchill's politics 😄
Second front inferred another already existed
Start there
Churchill was a warmonger I know but the second front threw me
There was another plan where the Valkyrie plotters kill Hitler, keep most of the conquered territory outside of Lebensraum and France, but they wanted a guarantee from the allies for support against Russia.
Churchill was down for this but FDR wasn't.
In any case, the brits were able to strike a deal with the labour government here. They'd walk in to Norway, behave themselves, and in return meet no resistance
So the war against Germany would've stopped instantly and both the reformed nazi reich I guess and the allies would turn on the USSR.
I can see FDR not being a fan, that’s a shame, that seems like an interesting timeline
But a table leg saved Hitler's life and FDR turned the deal down anyways.
Now, let's say you're Quisling, you're the... former I think, secretary of defence and one of your agents comes into your office and tells you about R4
Yeah FDR wanted unconditional surrender.
What do you do?
Kill commies?
That seems to be the proper solution to most problems
