right now i just kinda throw a fleece zip up over a hoodie and a longsleeve

winter changes depending on where you live

what’s your winter like

30-40 degree east coast winter

can get pretty windy

You probably know more about how to prepare for those than I do

winter here is like 50 minimum

id take that any day over this

there’s not many positive aspects about living in California but the weather is something that nobody will be able to take away

that said though

I unironically want worse weather here so I have an excuse to wear gear

I have all these nice jackets in my closet and it has been 75 and sunny for like 8 months

Only cali weather problems here are fires

Which sometimes warrant gear as the police fuck off, last year they didn't do much reporting on it

But when the cops fucked off the dregs of LA county came to socal scoping houses like a damn christmas light drive thru

Its only in the 30s at night so far so my work layering is t shirt thinnish hoodie and a north face outer shell

I have 2 skin tight layers i use, i will wear them both if its cold enough.
A medium weight merino wool layer
And a sort of microflece layer
After that its shirt (maybe) flece and shell if needed.

Getting good boots, socks and sock liners are a must. I stepped in a frozen sink hole and soaked my boots last year, but my Darn Tough socks, liners and Herman Suvivors kept my feet toasty.

Gaiters are good if you are walking through snow.

The only thing i add come deep winter is a thermal base layer a big jacket n a beanie

Same deal when not at work except the clothing is nicer

It doesn’t get excessively cold here, but we get a lot of slush and rain and bullshit, so I wear goretex boots and wool socks every day

who makes a good merino wool
