back then
the ruc were brutal
So I've heard.
they raided peoples homes and beat them
have you heard of the battle of the bogside?
Yeah the name rings a bell but I forgot what it was exactly.
well basically the apprentice boys (protestants) held a march in derry as they would annually
they started flicking pennies at the catholics living in the bogside
so some people retaliated with rocks
and then the ruc was called in they started fighting people
stormont brought back the b-specials, whom were a protestant citizens police group
there was rioting for around 50 hours
and then the british soldiers were called in
Wow.
And all this started from throwing pennies and rocks?
the was alot of tension already
I see.
because of the violence of the ruc and the civil rights movment
nicra (northern Ireland civil rights association) held a march for equal rights and the ruc lead them into an ambush were they were pelted with glass bottlesa and rocks
and then they called in the b-specials whom started to beat the marchers
Why didnt they see it was wrong?
some thought the ruc was an affront for the ira
Makes sense.
and alot of the ruc and b-specials were strict loyalists
One of the reasons why I'd rather Ireland to be united.
we still live under the same leader that put our fathers and sons in internment camps with no trail and no crime
and bloody sunday was no accident
We as in people in ni?
yeah
i met with someone whos brother was murdered during bloody sunday
Sorry.
they couldn't tell us who the soldiers name was so they just called him soldier f
Wow.
he shut his brother in the stomach, turned round and shut a man on his hands and knees
then shut a man running away
while he was lying down another soldier stepped over him and shot him in the back again
and he killed one other
most of those who were murderd were 17 years old
Smh
