the minute you get a moron away from school he's just never going to touch another book, or do anything to expand his mind

they gave them a test to see how much they had learned over the summer -- like vocab words, critical thinking skills, etc.

the group going to college learned more over the summer, because they were anticipating that they would need to know these things for college, so they took an effort to learn more
