They're not being oppressed. They're free. But killing innocent people who disagree with you is not an excuse.
And they're not stopped legally or democratically. They can vote out but they'll just be outvoted unfortunately.

The only good IRA was the original IRA which my great grandfather was part of.
The other ones were terrorist organizations marxist or not. For both political and religious reasons of course.
They were all marxist after the 40's.
