CBS news is running a halfway decent story this morning on the VA rally, they had a woman on saying something along the lines of "we're here for our rights, we're just afraid the skinheads and neo-nazis will come and ruin it"
They were one of the groups that were part of the organizations but it was like very minor and I think they kinda pulled away very quickly when it went full blow White supremacy.
yeah I wouldn't say their track record is perfect, but not nearly as bad. that being said the VCDL did nothing to deture a lot of these groups and people. There are a ton of people coming to this that were banned after Charlotesville.
Writing about concerns for violence immediately after mentioning VCDL for instance would infer to people not in the know that they're the ones that they should be concerned about starting violence which isn't honest reporting
I would have to see it to tell further. but that being said while the VCDL claims its don't condone some of these groups, they are kind of quick to pander to those groups.
But anyway you cut it the possibility for it is very real.
I wasn't a journalism major or anything like that in college, but I had to learn how to construct articles that provide clarification and avoid misinformation in business school. Surely a journalist would be able to write more informatively.
