Barelvis and Deobandis are both Ashari/Maturidi in Aqeedah, Hanafi in fiqh and follow the various Sufi orders like Chishtiyyah, Naqshbandiyah, Qadiriyyah etc, in theory at least. Both have common elders but later coalesced around charismatic figures, at which point there was a bitter rift and that has carried on since.
