to get back into basic economics, the whole use value of currency *is* its exchange value
it is useful in that it is exchangable
people agree on this exchange value
you want to expand the system, more people have to agree on the same value
if you want to take part in capitalism, then you must agree that the currency is worth a set amount
otherwise, you will get nowhere
