Not really. It could happen to any of us
I'm watching this old Kate Hepburn/Spencer Tracy flick called State of the Union
Friendly reminder to all of you that your country is in your hands if you take it. Go to congress.gov and figure out what you support and what you don't support. Watch CSPAN and take an interest. The problem with representative government in the United States is that it's become too representative. The government relies on the idea that the people are too lackadaisical, too uncaring, and most of all, perfectly uninformed.
Read the legislation, call and write your representatives and senators. The resources are out there, and they are free! It takes just a small amount of time out of your day to type an email, to make a phone call, to remind your representatives and senators that they work FOR the public.
The balance of representative government and democracy is only upheld so long as the democratic voices of the people are heard en masse!
"You politicians only remain professionals because the voters remain amateurs". - Kate Hepburn, State of the Union (1948)
Squeaky wheel gets the grease and all that. But keep up the political activism there coyote. We need more people to be engaged and less apathetic
In our circles, everyone wants to be a militiaman; a continental fighting tyranny. But among us must also be statesmen. Men and women willing to stand up, to speak, to read, to educate. Men and women willing to put aside the musket, even if only temporarily, in favor of the ink and parchment.
Thats the way to secure lasting change. Tyrants last a generation, ideals and values last forever
Be aware fellas.
The DHS now lists purchasing body armor and "extensive range trips" as highly suspect.
That's utterly fucked
Big gubbermint don' trust dirty ole' civilian us.
Specifically, every single possible freedom oriented choice you could have for personal defense or otherwise, the DHS has now decided is really bad and a threat unto itself.
they can suck DisHardShaft
before we know it the average firearm owner will be a domestic terrorist
which honestly
while fucking shitty
makes me feel powerful
they are that god damn afraid of us
that they have to embolden every action, police every thought
they are truly afraid of us at the moment and time and are covering every square inch of their asses
I mean, it's not fear, it's hate.
Driving, seething hatred.
The neo-caligulan nobility accidentally let the peasants & serfs (us) bear witness to the goings-on in their den of debauchery and filth.
Seeing as so much of the peasantry is armed, this gives cause for alarm. Not fear, but hate; due to a refusal to play ball with disarmament, forced diversity, repealing of free-speech, ect.
In short, it will be an interesting time getting to see what it is like to be the Gaul's going against Caesar's edicts during the late republic era.
Fucking love that damn album
Tbh, this all really constitutes big government doing angry crying and screaming out "REEEEEE, why won't you fucking peasants let us silence, disarm and then replace you!?!?!?!?"
really salty shit
Well fuck dude
if we are the Gauls color me fucking Vercingetorix
I don't enjoy the prospect of reliving these late republic memes.
Seemingly, Caesar was trying to nutshot the highly manipulative and shitty-destructive merchant-senator caste in roman society, that was actually the more realistic & likely reason for his assassination.
So, maybe it's safer to say that history doesn't necessarily repeat in-as-much as it rhymes.
Elaborate, what was happening there ?
Ok boomer
Amongst the things Caesar was trying to implement was an unfucking of the horrendously corrupt senate affiliated economic caste. @Thomatorr, King of Ohio
Alot like globohomo's modern "nobility", corrupt and affluent, tendrils dug deep into those possible positions within various governments.
Aaah okay
