Based on what I've seen, and idk exactly how it caused it in terms of specific details, but it seems that the big influx of immigration from central and south America really doubled after NAFTA was put into place
Right right, I was just giving the example because its a lot more volatile right now. But yeah, NAFTA seems more to screw with locals here than anything. Only promotes large global corps. I think small scale manufacturing needs to make a comeback, but thats wishful thinking
Not really, I couldn't agree more with you. We need to reestablish a production economy in the US
It was the destruction of that in the US which lead to the stagnation of wages, our economy, and of course financialization of our economy too
Well of course wages stagnate when theres readily available cheap labor you can tap over seas, or hell, just import them. A surplus of labor keeps everyone down
Exactly
And thats why, and not everyone will agree, having women in the workforce is absolutely detrimental to both wage and family progress
^
Women in caregiving roles is one thing
Based on my observation, the biggest hit that was taken was really just all the damn blue collar work being shipped overseas. If we reestablish a production economy with blue collar jobs that pay well, and yes, raise the minimum wage to where is should be based on cost of living, then we could easily offset any harm that was done by women entering the workforce. This is also one of the issues that we have to address; the inherent falling back on boomer tradition
We have to recognize we're talking to millennials
Millennial women don't want to just take care of kids. They want the choice with what to do
That's what it's all about
Fuck em
And there are plenty of them that are actually out there that want to be moms
Women aren't people
No but seriously, I don't disagree, I just feel like women are better suited to care giving roles
They tend to be happier there too
Even if that is true, they're only happy doing it if it's their choice
I mean they tend to gravitate towards them anyways. You hardly see any females in hard labor positions
No different than a man is only happy working if he chooses his work
*except on their backs* heyo
Ayyy
Also no minimum wage, get rid of it. But I won't rehash the debate with @AKAlexei. We'll just tread the same ground at an impasse
Sex work is care giving work😉
I unironically agree with legalizing sex work. I still don't understand why you think getting rid of the minimum wage is gonna raise wages tho
I mean to get rid of the fed would fix most of that..
Definitely
More or less why our founding fathers didn't want a federal bank
End the fed, legalize sex work
Alrighty, I'm watching the video
But as for the minimum wage, it allows companies an out so to say that they're providing the base need for wage as stated by law. No consideration is given that inflation would rise to meet the cost of the minimum. Wages should.be equal to work, and I see it the companies should be competing for labor, not the other way round
