Well, yes they want Pence to be president. If Trump was removed, then under the Presidential Succession Act, Pence becomes president instantly, automatically, with no vote required **AND** the vice presidency becomes vacant.

However, to fill the vice presidency a vote is required to confirm.

The House has to confirm a nominee by simple majority.

BUT

they don't have to.

For example, when Nixon resigned, they didn't confirm Ford's VP for months.

They left the VP slot vacant.

Now, if Trump were removed and Pence were to have an *unfortunate accident* while the VP slot was left vacant, then Nancy Pelosi becomes president via the Presidential Succession Act, instantly, automatically, no vote required.

So if Trump is removed, Pence is automatically president. Then Pence """dies""", and Pelosi is automatically president.
