Shit carying shingles isn't even the dangerous part of the job. It's falling off the roof that fucks people up. Using foot boards does more than that silly thing.
You gotta think outside the box if you want to please overlord Osha
They do it to try and eliminate some liability, but end up creating completely new ones.
Because I can see the danger of going up a ladder while carrying shit on your shoulder. I can barely keep my balance on a ladder with fully free hands
Someone needs balance training
it takes practice but once you understand it well it's not so scary
I've done it a lot
But putting a gas motor in a ladder just creates whole new risks of getting your hands shredded, skinned, cut, or otherwise maimed
cats musical fans got the movie they fucking deserved
Put the shingles in a pack?
Put pack on back.
Climb ladder.
Really just
Put shingles in bucket
I mean if you are a roofing contractor (not that I advise it probably the worst trade) there are these scisor-lift style things that can raise a pallet for you. Or if you are a pro just get the delivery guys with a truck lift to put the whole material budget *on the damn roof*.
Lift bucket from top
Done
5 dollar manual crane
That's not allowed here
Or at Osha
How about learning how to throw shingles accurately with a proper arc that they land softly enough?
Most tedious roof I did was white heat sealed rubber roof. They made us buy new shoes to work on this roof.
shingles flop like paper when you throw them unfortunately
Wait, they made **you** buy the shoes?
That's bs
I haven't done construction in years but the material providers have these trucks with PTO lift and they can just drop the stuff off where you need it and it's not 2 grand.
Ahh! Build a properly tuned trebuchet!
How much is it each time
It would add up

I have a meme related to this..
Since were talking safety
Let me present you all to the incredible
Surprisingly safe
But terrifying
Dude it was part of the delivery costs. You make the money back on the truck most contractors don't own a flatbed.
