As far as I am concerned, no moral philosophy that isn't concerned with practical application is of much use to anyone.

2019-12-03 09:24:31 UTC

I beg to differ

2019-12-03 09:24:44 UTC

The practicality of spreading ideas is well documented

2019-12-03 09:25:32 UTC

I mean why advocate a position that is impractical and not applicable to real-life?

2019-12-03 09:25:49 UTC

You never know what comes next, everything starts with an idea

2019-12-03 09:26:26 UTC

Why not try to find out to what extent an idea is applicable and practical and advocate for that?

2019-12-03 09:26:37 UTC

We have done that already

2019-12-03 09:26:48 UTC

I think it's time to continue thinking

2019-12-03 09:28:16 UTC

I mean always keep thinking, and I can spout non-sensical overblown straight out the top of my dome ideas as well. And in a discussion we can try to reach the reasonable middle-ground, and I can try to make a point with an overly ideal narrative.

2019-12-03 09:28:58 UTC

But as far as my actual political position goes will always be the one I think would work the best when applied.

2019-12-03 09:29:58 UTC

I don't know how my idea is overblown non-sensical

2019-12-03 09:30:17 UTC

I was talking about my own, haha.

2019-12-03 09:30:26 UTC

My point stands though.

2019-12-03 09:30:36 UTC

I'm making two arguments

2019-12-03 09:30:45 UTC

One is that I think all initiation of force is immoral

2019-12-03 09:30:50 UTC

Thus the government is immoral

2019-12-03 09:30:54 UTC

I disagree with that.

2019-12-03 09:31:01 UTC

But I do see where you are coming from.

2019-12-03 09:31:08 UTC

My second argument is that every move towards liberty is moral, thus we should increase liberty

2019-12-03 09:31:29 UTC

Like poverty, I think the application of force is inherit to our species.

2019-12-03 09:31:44 UTC

How would you define liberty?

2019-12-03 09:32:18 UTC

Liberty is when another person doesn't infringe on your pursuits (that must abide by the same principle)

2019-12-03 09:33:07 UTC

I often use the word "human thriving" which is essentially when a human being feels he is in the right time, at the right place, doing the right things. I suppose my moral philosophy would be to attempt to maximize that.

2019-12-03 09:33:28 UTC

A feels ideology?

2019-12-03 09:33:38 UTC

Yes, I'm not ashamed of that.

2019-12-03 09:33:50 UTC

I think people should have good lives and feel good about them.

2019-12-03 09:34:00 UTC

Well you're lucky I'm not in the mood to mock people right now 😛

2019-12-03 09:34:12 UTC

I think happiness is overrated

2019-12-03 09:34:16 UTC

I agree.

2019-12-03 09:34:22 UTC

And I'm not really arguing for happiness.

2019-12-03 09:34:51 UTC

I'm arguing for meaning, I suppose. Having something to work towards.

2019-12-03 09:35:22 UTC

Well that could be an interesting conversation but I'll have you know I'm an absurdist

2019-12-03 09:38:54 UTC

I think meaning in a sense is achieved through competence. Although I have no knowledge of any higher meaning, I think that it is up to us to find a meaning in the life around us and I think we do that better when we are part of a community.

2019-12-03 09:39:20 UTC

How do you know what needs you need to fill when you do not know the needs of your local markets?

2019-12-03 09:40:13 UTC

Life, as far as I am concerned, is about tending to the people around you.

2019-12-03 09:41:14 UTC

As an absurdist my approach to meaning is that it can only be created, not discoverd, because it doesn't exist. A bit like imagining a story that never actually happened.

2019-12-03 09:42:29 UTC

Basically everyone can "find" their own meaning in life if they so want, but they can also let others choose a meaning for them. However, meaning cannot be imposed on anyone, as that would contradict the entire philosophy.

2019-12-03 09:42:47 UTC

I suppose I agree.

2019-12-03 09:43:02 UTC

Well that was easy <:Veemote:501103628883591188>

2019-12-03 09:43:15 UTC

Short conversation

2019-12-03 09:44:49 UTC

Yeah, I'm not a moral absolutist, although there are morals I think should be held in high regard I realize that it is folly to give powers to an authority and not expect it to be used against your cause.
