Another fun fact: pizza became popular among lowest class workers first
So it was looked at as a "crap food" by the elites in Italy
Of course, protein+carb and handheld
Working man's meal
That... until it caught up overseas
now it's the go to food of broke college students
lobster was also seen as peasant's food, but rich people are fickle and are always craving for different things
@randomNPCno3 another reason why pissa's with too much vegetables are shit
@Ayylmao damn you, I was just about to say that!
Same with oysters
but yeah, lobster was seen as "cockroach of the sea" & left to the poors... until someone noticed it was delicious
Oh yeah, and hanger steak, and flank steak, and pretty much everything but prime rib
"...at least they died happy..." Got me to chuckle, @Thundermark
on the same note, is caviar actually good or is it in the cycle of ""its only expensive because rich people like it and rich people like it because its expensive"
The most popular type of pizza among workers was the "calzone" variety
because it could be stored and transported for later consumption more conveniently
Also it used to be much more sandwich-sized too
Off cuts and the easily accessible are always what gets the tastiest recipes
pizza on pineapple
IMO calzone is just casserole in a dough roll
bruh
no idea about the black caviar, tho
@Ayylmao Salmon roe is genuinely delicious
yes it is, ever tried it on sushi?
Ye, and candied
Black caviar has more flavour than red
candied salmon roe?
***mmmm***
I used to eat caviar by the spoonfulls in Russia
Miss those days
It's like little sweetnsalty Altoids
I ate a fish once
Wouldn't recommend tbh
based
@Ayylmao """its only expensive because rich people like it and rich people like it because its expensive""
Kinda like cow butthole & sheep stomach served at 5-star fancy restaurants in Europe?
...or is it sheep butthole & cow stomach? 🤔
I live on the coast, seafood is a necessity of my diet
Caviar in Russia is cheap for whatever reason
Like oyster casserole
You can afford to buy a lot of it
@Uksio Well, I lived in a "by the sea" part of Russia
