I really don't get why Disney felt the need to do it this way
There was massive demand for Expanded Universe novels to be made into films
Imagine Jar Jar as a likable character who we see grow in his role as senator, believably.
I am not going to spoil anything, but most of the plotlines are nonsensical
and more than 60% of character interactions pointless
They wouldn't even have to write anything, they have hundreds of hours of content to choose from to adapt
The movie had its moments tho
great moments

It's still just a pile of shit in the end when you look at the whole picture
sure, you could take out the diamonds
but what's the point
Imagine Anakin rewritten so that he wasn't so innocent a kid, and we followed his growth into a fearsome, noble, yet subtly ruthless jedi.
