Basically, as long as there are involuntary unemployed or homeless people in my country, not a single immigrant should be allowed in until the job and housing situation has been fixed for the native citizens.

If the job and housing situation is taken care off for every native citizen, and there are still job opportunities and accomodations to spare, only then can immigrants be allowed in, on several vital conditions of course.

i try to take a more reasonable position, being for immigration but based on merit and setting the standard high will probably result in mostly white people immigrating anyway or very high skilled non white people. i think any country needs to have some immigration but at much lower levels than we have been experiencing over the last 40 years

we need foreign students and workers as much as any country

the problem comes when we let in too much too quickly

@Ares That would be the "vital conditions" part for me. Any immigrant allowed in will have a moratorium on equal rights to other citizens for a period of a few years. Basically, if they exhibit behaviours that go against the native social fabric, their residence permit can be revoked and they get kicked out of the country.

@SimonTV There is no problem at all with international trade. But just because you permit trading with other countries, it doesn't mean you have to allow people from other countries to move in and set up shop in your own country.
