not really
Yeah, which is why there is some validity to the observation that that subsection of the community has been screwed - but it's not what a lot of folks seem to believe.
It's an *important* factor, I wouldn't say number one, though.
that would infer that a generation ago virtually EVERYONE was 'successful'
there's more to it
Because what's the *most* important factor is *extremely* individualized.
uhm why did that Christian guy get deleted?
Jesus was in a bad mood?
Fair enough, but it doesn't help. And Utah has like the number one spot for High School graduates in the nation but is at the bottom for Per Capita spending on students. What we DO have is like 90% of the population living in a stable home with married parents.
Lowest Divorce Rate and Teen Pregnancy Rate in the Nation.
also, to comment on Shame and Lauciouci topic, there are 'the rules of the game' that are changing and then 'being taught the rules of the game' which if you follow the rules and no one else does, puts one at a disadvantage
Well ONE of the lowest Teen Pregnancy rates.
Well, that's an interesting butcher of my name. >.<; lol
true; with only one parent, it makes everything an up-hill battle to start with
Though, yes, the floor keeps on shifting & this is a negative contributing factor.
i mean, even if a boy is taught the right things, if he is raised to have a sense of honor, he'll quickly find the culture makes that virtually impossible while still doing the things his peers do
Very true. In Utah everyone knows and plays the game. I fully support a Monoculture for this reason. It doesn't matter what race you are in our Quasi Theocracy. Is there a word for Ethnostate that isn't based on Ethnicity but religion?
race of?
Cars
You already said it, XD Theocracy.
fapping to this on christmas
<:tiptip:462282246695419934>
No, a Theocracy has to be ruled by that Religion, like the Vatican. Utah is a Democracy.
that's why 'social norms' are so important as they serve as the 'track' for the individual 'train cars''
this is particularlly important when it comes to reigning in the extremes organically
Right, but if it's ran by theocratic principles - and those *happen* to function in a democratic matter, it's *still* a Theocracy.
what exactly are 'theocratic principlces'?
Theodemocracy WAS kind of invented by us.
Depends on the religion, TBH.
then there is no such thing
or rather 'theocratic' is a misnomer
A Religiously based Moral Principle?
that would be ethics, wouldn't it?
True
Well, it'd be that theocracy is a misnomer, as theocratic is a fair descriptor - as in theocratic Democracy.
not exactly 'theocratic'
i think that is an oxymoron
It's called Theodemocracy.
