2019-12-18 00:04:09 UTC

no one tell them about the Golden Age

2019-12-18 00:11:03 UTC
2019-12-18 00:11:13 UTC

Not much compared to European achievement

2019-12-18 00:11:49 UTC

doesn't matter, their point still falls

2019-12-18 00:11:58 UTC

i would say it is

2019-12-18 00:12:31 UTC

@Ater Votum compared to European achievements? How?

2019-12-18 00:16:18 UTC

8th century explosives

2019-12-18 00:16:19 UTC

lads

2019-12-18 00:25:16 UTC

@The Desert Fox V uhhh... Algebra is pretty important

2019-12-18 00:25:24 UTC

We also use their number system

2019-12-18 00:25:36 UTC

The Golden Age was largely done by Persians. Because of Arab expansion Arabic became more of a common language in more regions thus it created cooperations between different people

2019-12-18 00:26:27 UTC

Algebra was made by Persians

2019-12-18 00:26:30 UTC

good night out.

2019-12-18 00:26:30 UTC

Also, the Golden Age essentially sparked because it stemmed from a translation movement of Greek, Persian, and Hindu documents.

2019-12-18 00:26:30 UTC

Persians were already conquered by Muslims by then

2019-12-18 00:28:07 UTC

Yeah and it arguably benefitted them because they got to speak with Greeks in Arabic

2019-12-18 00:28:42 UTC

Of course

2019-12-18 00:28:51 UTC

It's also why it's called the Islamic golden age

2019-12-18 00:28:55 UTC

Not the Arabic golden age

2019-12-18 00:29:25 UTC

Certainly

2019-12-18 00:31:29 UTC

Wasn't the Arabic golden age based off of already done works that they translated?

2019-12-18 00:32:07 UTC

Anyway, algebra is somewhat important, but it if it didn't stop them from getting conquered it isn't too important

2019-12-18 00:32:08 UTC

It sparked from a translation movement, yes.

2019-12-18 00:32:27 UTC

To be frank, I wouldn’t mind Roman numerals, anyway.

2019-12-18 00:32:32 UTC

Not that difficult to read them.

2019-12-18 00:32:52 UTC

There was no Arabic golden age really.
But yes alot was from old manuscripts they were allowed to keep.
Up to 90% is said to have been discarded or destroyed because it served no purpose in islam

2019-12-18 00:33:15 UTC

The Islamists also destroyed much of the landscape in Spain and Algeria.

2019-12-18 00:34:12 UTC

Roman numerals are good

2019-12-18 00:35:18 UTC

Honestly the invading armies into Hispania was savage and cowardice.
No one was spared and the pillaging was horendous.
Traditionally religious sites like churches were used to house the people who had no intend on fighting but the muslims did not care and instead slaughtered anyone they could find.
There were even cases of people being put into giant cooking pots and scalded alive in the boiling waters.

2019-12-18 00:37:18 UTC

@Autumnpost 🎃 progs never talk about this, but then they complain about the spanish inquisition and crusades!

2019-12-18 00:37:18 UTC

This is only the tip of the iceberg.
Just guess who let the armies into the Iberian peninsula to begin with

The Spanish Inquisition is an overblown event.
Yeah I agree that religious persecution is not the wisest option and I am mostly against it but the inquisition was largely having torture and no death. Death was very rare.
