Depends on what they mean, are they accusing a particular sect/church or the faith as a whole?
As a whole
2 Corinthians 10:2
**2 Corinthians 10:2 - Good News Translation (GNT)**
```Dust
<2> I beg you not to force me to be harsh when I come; for I am sure I can deal harshly with those who say that we act from worldly motives. ```
Then they are in the wrong, people give finances to churches so that they may continue to maintain their place of worship.
Absolutely
I don't doubt however that there are wolves in sheep clothing among us
Joel Osteen is an example
There may be some Televangelists who sell their products, and that guy who said the world would end on 12 21 12
Those are scammers, but it is the fault of unquestioning sheep that become swindled by cunning predators, not Christ.
Allow your faith to guide you, not blind you
2 Thessalonians 2:3-4
**2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 - Good News Translation (GNT)**
<3> Do not let anyone deceive you in any way. For the Day will not come until the final Rebellion takes place and the Wicked One appears, who is destined to hell. <4> He will oppose every so-called god or object of worship and will put himself above them all. He will even go in and sit down in God's Temple and claim to be God. ```
tfw when an egotistical athiest will be the bringer of the end times @Crazed Shotgun
KJV sounds way better
Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
@Crazed Shotgun to each their own, I prefer a version I where I can fully understand what each word means
I want to learn german so I can read an earlier translation of the bible, I think the less we translate and closer we get to the original text, the better context provided and interpretations found.
I got one to dismiss any person calling Christ a kike on a stick.
Stop goddamn pinging my ass
Wtf
@Crazed Shotgun After reading some of your posts in here. Three questions.
1. Are you LDS?
2. What makes you believe in your interpretation of Christianity?
3. What would you say to a non-member that is tentatively interested in the church but is reluctant to dive head-first into it or otherwise take a "leap of faith"?
I've found many aspects of the church appealing for the longest time, and yet my mainstream Protestant upbringing heavily conflicts with the tenets outlined by the LDS. Nonetheless, its doctrines make intuitive sense to me, and of all religions/sects I *wish* were true, the LDS comes out on top. I just think there's a scarcity of cogent arguments/evidence for the church, maybe you can prove me wrong.
Yes, I'm Lds. I keep it mainly under wraps due to alot of anti-lds sentiment in alot of political servers. I believe in my scriptures and doctrine for many reasons, Most are from the Church's stance on how important family values are. Another is that all male members are given the priesthood so that they may help lead their families in times of strife, be that by giving blessings or through other prayerful listening to the Holy Spirit. I see the priesthood as a valuable tool to bring forth the values of Zion as it is described in the bible, not by the rabbi in the Babylon of Israel. Zion is not just some nation, it is a place of righteousness that comes from within all worthy and loyal members. If you are intrested in the church, I would advise going to your local LDS church, also known as a ward, and ask to have the missionaries stop by to help you gain a better understanding. I understand the sentiment of wanting to make sure that the path is right before taking any kind of risk, I was raised to question everything. The best advice I would give would be to attend church a few times, read The holy bible in addition to the book of mormon and pray for an answer to God to see if it is right. The Lord will answer your prayers in due time. If it doesn't fit, then so be it. I'm not gonna force my faith on anyone, but if you want to learn more, I encourage reaching out to the missionaries.
"Babylon of Israel"
the LDS is open in its direct denial of monotheism
claiming that there are three gods, rather then trinitarians, whom at least attempt to create an argument for monotheism
LDS is polytheistic?
From what I've read it does not sound Christian
@Crazed Shotgun I'm appauled about how LDS thinks about the Trinity
"God has a father"
"God has a mother"
This is a cult
" A Council of the Gods. In the beginning, the head of the Gods called a council of the Gods; and they came together and concocted a plan to create the world and people it."
Joseph Smith
The book of Mormon is literal heresy
@Crazed Shotgun How do you not realize the book or Mormon is directly contradictory to the Bible and is heretical
Mormons must be oppressed and shutdown in order to stop this heresy
@G a b e גבריאל not just 3 gods
Infinitely many Gods
"If we should take a million of worlds like this and number their particles, we should find that there are more Gods than there are particles of matter in those worlds... One world has a personal God or Father, and the inhabitants thereof worship the attributes of that God, another world has another, and they worship His attributes... "
