2019-11-18 18:14:14 UTC

so how did you rule out the big bang as the first cause

2019-11-18 18:14:17 UTC

and every other diety

2019-11-18 18:14:36 UTC

What caused the big bang, unless you assume the Big Bang is an absolute first

2019-11-18 18:14:46 UTC

Essentially saying that the Big Bang is a God

2019-11-18 18:15:25 UTC

idk what caused it, or if it even had a cause

2019-11-18 18:15:29 UTC

if it had no cause then its the prime mover

2019-11-18 18:16:28 UTC

How would it have no cause though @Riley?

2019-11-18 18:16:31 UTC

idk

2019-11-18 18:16:40 UTC

Atoms would need to come from somewhere no?

2019-11-18 18:16:59 UTC

do the laws of causality apply if there is no space or time?

2019-11-18 18:17:02 UTC

i can't say

2019-11-18 18:17:07 UTC

im just making a proposition here

2019-11-18 18:17:19 UTC

i personally don't believe this because there is no evidence for it

2019-11-18 18:17:50 UTC

Sounds flaky

2019-11-18 18:18:04 UTC

Ok so what do you think of his argument from contingency

2019-11-18 18:18:07 UTC

In the world we see things that are possible to be and possible not to be. In other words, perishable things. But if everything were contingent and thus capable of going out of existence, then, nothing would exist now. But things clearly do exist now. Therefore, there must be something that is imperishable: a necessary being. This everyone understands to be God

2019-11-18 18:18:25 UTC

"this everyone understands to be god"

2019-11-18 18:18:29 UTC

how did you determine that?

2019-11-18 18:18:35 UTC

this has the same problem

2019-11-18 18:19:54 UTC

All humans throughout history have understood or believed that a god created the universe, up till recently

2019-11-18 18:20:02 UTC

Hence the last sentence

2019-11-18 18:20:10 UTC

not really, there is actually a tribe in the Amazon with no concept of a god

2019-11-18 18:20:19 UTC

they have no religion

2019-11-18 18:20:32 UTC

God has revealed himself to every single human in history

*"According to Everett, the Pirahã have no concept of a supreme spirit or god,[9] and they lost interest in Jesus when they discovered that Everett had never seen him. They require evidence based on personal experience for every claim made.[6] However, they do believe in spirits that can sometimes take on the shape of things in the environment. These spirits can be jaguars, trees, or other visible, tangible things including people.[5](pp112,134–142) Everett reported one incident where the Pirahã said that “Xigagaí, one of the beings that lives above the clouds, was standing on a beach yelling at us, telling us that he would kill us if we go into the jungle.” Everett and his daughter could see nothing and yet the Pirahã insisted that Xigagaí was still on the beach.[5](ppxvi-xvii)"*

2019-11-18 18:21:58 UTC

ok, well tell god that he forgot a few people

2019-11-18 18:22:25 UTC

Ironic. They wouldn't believe in the big bang either

2019-11-18 18:22:31 UTC

Cool people

2019-11-18 18:22:33 UTC

perhaps not

2019-11-18 18:22:39 UTC

though unlike god, the big bang has evidence

2019-11-18 18:22:50 UTC

There's only like 800 of them

2019-11-18 18:22:55 UTC

"I don't personally expirence it so it's false"

2019-11-18 18:22:58 UTC

Big bang btfo

2019-11-18 18:23:08 UTC

my point was that there are people with no concept of a god

2019-11-18 18:23:08 UTC

thats it

2019-11-18 18:23:10 UTC

lol

2019-11-18 18:23:14 UTC

@Riley the Big bang is a retarded theory. It's an event with no named cause

2019-11-18 18:23:23 UTC

the big bang theory doesnt describe a cause
