What are you afraid of?

2019-07-17 22:19:26 UTC

That they *god forbid* changed their minds?

2019-07-17 22:19:31 UTC

The millions who... voted remain... and want to overturn the results...

2019-07-17 22:19:44 UTC

And?

2019-07-17 22:19:55 UTC

Appealing to them is non sensical

2019-07-17 22:20:02 UTC

What, do you think that the voting differential will magically change?

2019-07-17 22:20:32 UTC

If this is truly the decision the public wants a recall vote will be at the very worst irrelevant.

2019-07-17 22:20:34 UTC

Of course the losing side (Of which I was a part) wants to undemocratically and tyrannically overturn a democratic vote

2019-07-17 22:20:37 UTC

Whoop de doo.

2019-07-17 22:20:56 UTC

It is a democratic function you silly duckling.

2019-07-17 22:21:10 UTC

Recall votes and elections are an ingrained part of democracy.

2019-07-17 22:21:52 UTC

It was only a few years ago in fact that my own state had a recall election for our governor.

2019-07-17 22:22:03 UTC

Not in the UK we don't

2019-07-17 22:22:10 UTC

Why not?

2019-07-17 22:22:15 UTC

There was no recall vote on independence

2019-07-17 22:22:31 UTC

Which for me is arguably more important a matter than Brexit

2019-07-17 22:22:46 UTC

Also #fake_news @Normal Man

2019-07-17 22:22:54 UTC

You totally have recall systems in place.

2019-07-17 22:23:04 UTC

It would help if you read the first paragraph...

2019-07-17 22:23:13 UTC

Recall of MPs yes.

2019-07-17 22:23:17 UTC

```The Recall of MPs Act 2015 (c. 25) is an Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom that makes provision for constituents to be able to recall their Member of Parliament (MP) and call a by-election```
2019-07-17 22:23:28 UTC
Yes, so why not a policy too?
2019-07-17 22:23:37 UTC
What are you so deathly scared of?
2019-07-17 22:23:45 UTC
It's clearly not a subversion of democracy.
2019-07-17 22:24:08 UTC
You have it in place for your own representatives for goodness sakes.
2019-07-17 22:24:16 UTC
Referendums and elections are non-comparable. They are two different systems with different purposes.
2019-07-17 22:24:36 UTC
Absolutely comparable. One elects a person, the other elects a policy.
2019-07-17 22:24:54 UTC
One is just more direct in the working of the people on the government than the other.
2019-07-17 22:25:01 UTC
You're being *very* silly.
2019-07-17 22:26:13 UTC
We do not have flip flopping referendums like we do on elections, now that would be silly. With referendums we vote and the majority wins, not a difficult concept.
2019-07-17 22:26:27 UTC
Why would it be so silly?
2019-07-17 22:26:30 UTC
Two different systems with different purposes.
2019-07-17 22:26:36 UTC
Non-comparable
2019-07-17 22:26:38 UTC
With an election the majority wins.
2019-07-17 22:26:41 UTC
It can flip flop.
2019-07-17 22:26:47 UTC
Why not for a referendum?
2019-07-17 22:27:32 UTC
And again. Both public votes, both for public opinion on how the government is to be run, both majority votes.
2019-07-17 22:27:56 UTC
It's absolutely comparable by those variables at the least. Quit trying to stonewall and headsand.
2019-07-17 22:28:36 UTC
Yes, I suppose we should just re-call the vote once an opinion polls shows a shift in public opinion. We'd get nothing done with constant referendums, so we vote, accept the result regardless of your since then enact the public's mandate
2019-07-17 22:29:17 UTC
No no no silly!
