It doesn't really matter in my opinion. I consider us all humans with the same upsides and downsides.
Israel isn't even Israel. It's a piece of land that humans drew borders on to create a country.

2019-07-21 02:30:31 UTC

Unless they elected to change the name and join Mexico, yes. That’s how nations work.

^this
If we're being technical

2019-07-21 02:31:08 UTC

Exactly.

2019-07-21 02:31:26 UTC

A nation is technically just a geographical region with an autonomous government.

2019-07-21 02:31:48 UTC

Not much more than that if you really push it down to bare bones essentials.

2019-07-21 02:33:37 UTC

And the definitions of the geographical region by name and custom are defined by the population of that area deemed citizens by pre-existing custom created by previous citizens.

Ergo if a bunch of Mexican suddenly replaced everyone in Israel, given they had Israeli citizenship, they would be Israeli and citizens of Israel. They may then change the name and allegiance of Israel. If they are not citizens and attempt to do so, Israel will remain Israel.

A nation is a large body of people united by common descent, history, culture, or language

2019-07-21 03:03:50 UTC

That occupy an area

2019-07-21 03:04:04 UTC

A nation-state is the government aspect of a nation

2019-07-21 03:04:23 UTC

A country is not a nation, a country has no common culture or history or language

2019-07-21 03:04:40 UTC

A country would be the United States in it's current form

2019-07-21 03:04:49 UTC

The U.S is *not* a nation

2019-07-21 03:05:12 UTC

Most European countries are infact not countries but nation-states

2019-07-21 03:05:30 UTC

The nation-state is what nationalists protect, not a country inheritly

2019-07-21 03:05:40 UTC

The right for a common culture to govern itself

2019-07-21 06:19:15 UTC

Yes

2019-07-21 06:19:21 UTC

This is indeed not what America ius

2019-07-21 06:19:22 UTC

*is

2019-07-21 08:46:56 UTC

@Deleted User A caveat then, by the standards everyone *actually ends up using* because seeing the US as a state is convenient.

2019-07-21 15:22:57 UTC

@DrRisen Convenience leaves out important details, just because most people are too lazy to know the differences doesn't mean they are right in doing so

2019-07-21 21:15:34 UTC

@everyone Daily Question 🔖

- Is the modern prison system adequate? If not, how would you change it?

2019-07-21 21:16:02 UTC

Focus more on rehabilitation

2019-07-21 21:16:07 UTC

In the United States?

2019-07-21 21:16:12 UTC

Focus more on punishment

2019-07-21 21:16:14 UTC

Less on punitive justice

2019-07-21 21:16:20 UTC

Replace prisons with labor camps

2019-07-21 21:16:25 UTC

We should do what Norway does

2019-07-21 21:16:26 UTC

As it leads to reconvictions

2019-07-21 21:16:32 UTC

Which is what we all DON'T want

2019-07-21 21:16:36 UTC

@Deleted User actually a good idea

2019-07-21 21:16:46 UTC

Replace prisons with labor camps and make it not by time but by income

2019-07-21 21:16:52 UTC

retarded

2019-07-21 21:17:07 UTC

Plus less minor offences should get prison as it leads to overcrowding and is more burdensome for the tax payer

2019-07-21 21:17:10 UTC

If you commit a crime such as theft worth $10,000 you must labor until is is equal to double your crime

2019-07-21 21:17:24 UTC

yes slavery

2019-07-21 21:17:25 UTC

awesome

2019-07-21 21:17:37 UTC

Labor Camps

2019-07-21 21:17:51 UTC

Maximum sentence 20-40 years.
Give prisoners more freedom, redesign the actual prisons to be better on mental health.
Legalize hard drugs and make addicts go to mandatory rehab.
