while having no problem doing worse to those of other religions
the definition of hypocrisy
When do we do worse to other religions though? How often do Catholics/Protestants/Orthodox massacre hundreds of people on religious holy days?
We haven’t really done these things on a comparable scale since the Crusades and Inquisition.
I lack to see the hypocrisy here, undeniably Christians are the most martyred faith since it’s rise.
Having an enemy and opposing them isn’t hypocrisy
I’m haven’t said “grrr, they should respect us” as that would be hypocritical of myself.
Crusades were justified but whatever
Christianity was attacked first
I only used the crusades as an example because it was the last era or event in which Christians directly persecuted another faith (aside from the inquisition)
inb4 Addie comes screeching in about muh what about turn the other cheek reeeee <:aaa:604871400825552906> <:aaa:604871400825552906> <:aaa:604871400825552906>
Though I do believe in the actions of both the inquisition and crusade
@Stahlgewittern Genuinely, what would you say in response to all the verses talking about not retaliating against your enemies
Christ himself did not come to did not come to bring peace but a sword
how gay are u to actually not fight back against an enemy
We strive to be Christlike
Even Christ was driven to violence
@Stahlgewittern That verse is taken way out of context ngl
Did Christ not fashion a whip and drive money changers from the temples?
Matthew 5:38-39 refers to personal offense
When he talks about bringing a sword, reading the entire chapter clearly shows that he is taking about in that time when 1 Christian in a family would be outcast and he specifically mentioned brother vs brother and father vs son in reference to the fact that being Christian would see you be persecuted - and to not abandon your faith
Matthew 10:34-36
I’m aware
I do not clearly remember where in the Bible is speaks of it unfortunately, but there was an instance where a man talked ill of Jesus and oke of the apostles cut the man's ear for it but Jesus rebuked the apostle for it
I don't have that specific instance bookmarked so I don't remember where it talked about it
That was during the arrest of Jesus
John 18:10-11
Ah
Thanks
I do believe in defense of the Lord by less peaceful means just making that clear tho
I'm not a pacifist
I believe we have been pacifists for too long
I think we should forgive and help those in need who are willing to receive help
If they truly want help
We allow offense to God too often
I'm not talking about forgiving offense to God
There is no morality in Christian World anymore
People have forgotten God
For the most part, yes
