**Matthew 16:18 - New American Bible (Revised Edition) (NABRE)**
```Dust
<18> And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. ```
For the full quote
But it's good to remember we need communion with other christians
Im not saying that abstention is a good thing I’m a fucking catholic
You need communion with Peter bb
Everyone feels it even just being in a church you feel it
Matthew 16:15-18
**Matthew 16:15-18 - New American Bible (Revised Edition) (NABRE)**
```Dust
<15> He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" <16> Simon Peter said in reply, "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God." <17> Jesus said to him in reply, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. <18> And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. ```
Im too lazy to get and translate from my own bible
Do you want the original?
Matthew 16:15-18 Vulgate
**Matthaeus 16:15-18 - Biblia Sacra Vulgata (VULGATE)**
```Dust
<15> Dicit illis Jesus: Vos autem, quem me esse dicitis? <16> Respondens Simon Petrus dixit: Tu es Christus, Filius Dei vivi. <17> Respondens autem Jesus, dixit ei: Beatus es Simon Bar Jona: quia caro et sanguis non revelavit tibi, sed Pater meus, qui in caelis est. <18> Et ego dico tibi, quia tu es Petrus, et super hanc petram aedificabo Ecclesiam meam, et portae inferi non praevalebunt adversus eam. ```
That’s a good bot
Well, I could go further, but I don't know aramaic
Peter actually knew Jesus personally
Bible bot is top tier
aramaic is the language of jesus you know
I wish we had canon law ninja in here so I could post catechism paragraphs
All atheist intellectuals need to learn the original language if they want to pick apart the bible word for word
^^
I could go into all the church councils and how they confirm Peter's supremacy @GHOST but it's getting late
I mean if you translate it Aramaic –> Greek –> Latin –> modern language
I'm pretty sure 99% of christians don't know Hebrew
There *will* be errors
Yeah it is getting late
~~that's why we have the magisterium~~
But they aren't criticizing it and using words against it
In what Jesus Said to what the Bible says
Yes
And i would like to learn about it
there's likely a lot of translation errors in the english bible
They are trying their best to understand it
~~because we weren't intended to interpret it ourselves~~
~~but anyways~~
As an owner of german and english bibles I can confirm there are some things I would classify as discrepancies
Probably, but at least it's translated in many languages for us to understand it
There's no translation that's adequate as someone who speaks multiple languages the entire format is different nothing can be truly translated word for word
I mean, there's like 20 bibles in English alone the catholic church allows
Wait you're trying to claim that Greek mythos isn't real when you don't read ancient Greek? @⍟luminance
Americans mostly use either DRA or NABRE
