Everything you listed as things that BTFO the French monarchy did not end with the Republic or Napoleon, in fact they got worse. The 7 Year's war racked up lot's of debt, sure, but Napoleon's conquests also racked up lot's of debt. It's called running a country.
And the monarchy taxed the shiteating peasants because since the dawn up until this very day tax burden has always fallen primarily to them.
As for the tithe look at history in the context it took place, the people of France at the time had not been conditioned for generations by liberalism to despise religion as you are now.
