The entire era.

2019-08-14 00:56:57 UTC

French revolution up through the end of the wars of the coalition

2019-08-14 00:57:36 UTC

The main reason I like it is it helped spread good ideas through Europe

2019-08-14 00:58:05 UTC

like separation of church and state, constitutionalism, ect

2019-08-14 00:58:23 UTC

Those are not good ideas.

2019-08-14 00:58:31 UTC

Objectively

2019-08-14 00:58:32 UTC

whats wrong with them

2019-08-14 00:59:09 UTC

i kinda like the rule of the law

2019-08-14 00:59:24 UTC

its much better than submitting to some pampered inbred king

2019-08-14 00:59:53 UTC

That's a meme understanding of monarchism

2019-08-14 01:00:38 UTC

Heavily implying that pre-Napoleonic monarchs just ran around the country doing whatever the hell they wanted because they were the king right?

2019-08-14 01:00:47 UTC

There have always been many checks and balances in monarchies.

2019-08-14 01:02:24 UTC

well there was clearly something wrong. Maybe we should look at the causes of the French revolution

2019-08-14 01:02:28 UTC

and see what they were unhappy about

2019-08-14 01:03:08 UTC

well I know they were pretty unhappy about the tax burden. The Seven Year's war really fucked up France's economy, so they had to raise taxes

2019-08-14 01:03:24 UTC

not to mention the American revolution!

2019-08-14 01:04:14 UTC

@Deleted User so why would the monarch only raise taxes on the third estate?

2019-08-14 01:04:59 UTC

the Tithe was also something id be pissed off about if I was living in France at the time

2019-08-14 01:05:13 UTC

like wtf

2019-08-14 01:08:27 UTC

Everything you listed as things that BTFO the French monarchy did not end with the Republic or Napoleon, in fact they got worse. The 7 Year's war racked up lot's of debt, sure, but Napoleon's conquests also racked up lot's of debt. It's called running a country.
And the monarchy taxed the shiteating peasants because since the dawn up until this very day tax burden has always fallen primarily to them.
As for the tithe look at history in the context it took place, the people of France at the time had not been conditioned for generations by liberalism to despise religion as you are now.

2019-08-14 01:08:56 UTC

We arent talking about Napoleon...

2019-08-14 01:09:20 UTC

you have to admit that the tithe is pretty shitty

2019-08-14 01:09:22 UTC

10%

2019-08-14 01:09:48 UTC

We're talking about the French revolution and the events that followed it. You literally cannot try to separate the revolution from Napoleon.

2019-08-14 01:09:50 UTC

can you imagine paying 10% of everything you make to the church

2019-08-14 01:09:59 UTC

I already do.

Going to Church doesn't make you Christian, having a spiritual connection with God does and if you ever had one you wouldn't be a godless freak of nature now.
