you really need to learn shading withput smudging

a well shaded piece looks so much better

Thats not art thoug, its more like Seb does basic drawing

As far as I know theres not much I can do in terms of pencil shading.

It either looks like scratchy pencil, or can be smoothed out with smudging.

You can def shade without smudging if you're using good pencils

All I can really afford to use is writing pencils I found laying about.

It's okay. But try to get good sketching pencils when you can

Generally end up using the wacom when I have a large allotment of time to do shading and such.

I can guarantee you it makes things much better
