I'm dead serious about this btw
Or Unser Rommel. It's my favorite march, tbh.
not to optics fag but singing any German song would be bad. Something like Dixie would be more apporite to the event
Yep, and for the sake of practicality learning German lyrics would be hard
Dixie is great!
Everyone knows it too
Haha, true. Dixie is a great choice.
Oh, I wish I was in the land of cotton,
Old times there are not forgotten.
Look away, look away, look away Dixie Land!
In Dixie's Land, where I was born in,
early on one frosty mornin'.
Look away, look away, look away Dixie Land!
I wish I was in Dixie, Hooray! Hooray!
In Dixie's Land I'll take my stand,
to live and die in Dixie.
Away, away, away down south in Dixie!
Away, away, away down south in Dixie!
** Deafening rebel yell **
My eyes have seen the glory of the trampling at the zoo...
We definitely should memorize some southern songs, or the anthem from that video
I'll start passing around the lyrics and letting folks know
When would be the best opportunity to do it?
Which song are we doing?
I like the welsh anthem
I vote both. Dixie because everyone will know it, Welsh anthem because it sounds great and is fitting
but we'll need to spread the word about both, and I don't think most people know the lyrics to the Welsh anthem
I absolutely love the wartime version, "To Arms in Dixie"

"The Song of the Rebel Irish" was featured in a deleted scene from "Gods and Generals" (this is the full version, but the scene is also available on JooTube), and based on the lyrics is my very favorite, but it would be a lot for everyone to learn. Maybe a choice verse or two?

Lastly (I'll shut up after this), Moseley's BUF Anthem is a partial translation and adaptation of the "Horst Wessel Lied". It was also brilliantly covered by Skrewdriver as "Hail the New Dawn", which would be a fine choice, too.

Everyone should study these lyrics and practice singing them: https://americancivilwar.com/Civil_War_Music/song_lyrics/I_Wish_I_Was_In_Dixie.html
I'll print out cards to be passed around at the rally
Sweet
What about the welsh anthem?
Sure, I'd be game to do that as well! That's my personal favorite
I'm considering passing around a version with "Harlech" changed to "Europe" and "Welshmen" to "White Men", what do y'all think? 🤔
Or should I preserve the original?
Can you link me to the lyrics
or paste them here
and I like that idea
Of changing it to europe and white men
Is this it?
This is the version I was thinking of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUHCkVBJgVk
I dig it. Someone needs to copy a full version of the lyrics that people can memorize by reading all at once
You got it m8
*Men of Europe stop your dreaming
Can't you see their spear points gleaming
See their warrior pennants streaming
To this battlefield
Men of Europe stand ye steady
It cannot be ever said ye
For this battle were not ready
White Men never yield
From the hills rebounding
Let this war cry sounding
Summon all at Dixie's call
The mighty force surrounding
Men of Europe onto glory
This will ever be your story
Keep these burning words before ye
White Men will not yield*
Sweet. And you just repeat?
Yep!
