The problem talking about traditional masculinity is which one? At different times and places different things have been associated with masculinity. The European nobility’s conception of the gentleman shares little in common with the stereotypical working class man but are both in their own way a traditional vision of masculinity.

I’d suggest that the best way of keeping a family unit together is to keep them happy and prosperous and that one size does not fit all in that regard. The curie’s by all accounts had a very successful marriage in both regards and funny enough pretty much had an atomic family. In no way was there relationship typical for the time though and theres little doubt that Marie was the more successful and called the shots in the relationship. I’d suggest this ticks all the boxes you’d hope for in a relationship and yet you’d condemn it for being atypical and this seems a strange outcome.

I’m not sure the pride movement has a lot of steam beyond the core rights and acceptance concerns and as those are being addressed in the west we increasingly see the movement fracturing as beyond those common concerns there’s little common ground. Ask a trans person how they feel about lesbian terfs for example and you’ll see what I mean.

I’m not exactly sure what role you see the govt playing here beyond perhaps legislation governing gay marriage, adoption, etc which are kinda already mainstream in the west. I also am not sure how you get that the church is becoming Marxist especially as tolerance is very different from acceptance or promotion. The Catholic Church, who I take it you referring to, has acknowledged that to be relevant in the world they must first see the world as it is which is simply pragmatic and a recognition of the need to be tactically sound rather than always dogmatically zealous

As for “keeping to yourself” youd be surprised to find theres a silent majority of gay people who feel that pride marches are increasingly stupid, counter productive to the image they want to portray and just an excuse to whore around as there are those in america who view mardis gras in New Orleans the same way.

Most people regardless of what team they bat for find being slutty in public pretty offensive to good taste, however there’s a reticence to express that view in the gay community as the perception is rather than band together to establish an accepted norm of behaviour, groups with similar perceptions will instead use that concern as a foundation to revoke hard won rights for all gay people
