Executions also don’t provide the same dread that a life in prison does and its difficult to make a martyr out of the bitch who’ll eat out half the cell block for a cup ramen

I do not trust any government in existence to practice the death penalty

falsifying evidence is too easy

If we can PROVE that someone murdered somebody, I am all for an immediate death penalty

So because the victim was wronged?

the victim should also be the arbiter of the punishment

not the arbiter in proving it occurred obviously

but in the punishment they should decide what level of punishment is given

For instance if someone has stolen from me

I should have the option to tell the government not to pursue the perpetrator if I choose to do so

so let's say the maximum penalty for assault is death

THat makes sense.

I should be able to decide from no punishment to death, what punishment he receives (reasonably)

of course you shouldn't be able to enslave them

But if someone assaults me and I demand compensation that should be an alternative I can choose instead of prison time

because prison time does not actually rectify how I've been wronged at all

It merely serves to deter future criminals not to write the wrong that has been done to me

Of course I'm just talking in extremes theoretically right now
