Thou shalt not kill.

2017-04-03 00:54:07 UTC

nvm dates wrong

2017-04-03 00:54:15 UTC

For any reason outside wartime.

2017-04-03 00:54:34 UTC

(And self defense, of course)

2017-04-03 00:54:38 UTC

Murder means that there is evil intent behind the act. What if you kill in self defence, or to protect the life of another?

2017-04-03 00:55:00 UTC

The hebrew text translates it to 'murder'

2017-04-03 00:55:05 UTC

i know paganism is what a lot of christianity is based on

2017-04-03 00:55:25 UTC

as far as holiays go

2017-04-03 00:55:26 UTC

See ya later. I have class

2017-04-03 00:55:37 UTC

i played overwatch for 14 hours this weekend

2017-04-03 00:55:44 UTC

Well then, if we look at it that way, killing someone in defense of your family would be irrefutable.

2017-04-03 00:56:00 UTC

but i suppose you can assume that by 'kill' it meant 'unlawful killings'

2017-04-03 00:56:13 UTC

see you cyld

2017-04-03 00:56:16 UTC

Wrongdoings, correct.

2017-04-03 00:56:41 UTC

As I believe in the Bible it states you may kill only when necessary to protect you or your family.

2017-04-03 00:56:59 UTC

From what I understand, the bible states three justified killings:
1 - due consequence for crime
2- in warfare
3 - intruder in the home

2017-04-03 00:57:16 UTC

that's what i remember from my readings

2017-04-03 00:57:28 UTC

There we go. Couldn't remember what it was exactly, but that's what my mother and I discussed.

2017-04-03 00:58:02 UTC

boosem mentioned paganism

2017-04-03 00:58:08 UTC

the idea of Christmas itself is not pagan

2017-04-03 00:58:18 UTC

the idea of a tree is, from what i understand

2017-04-03 00:58:24 UTC

I could be wrong, i haven't looked into this

2017-04-03 00:58:31 UTC

Christmas tradition is basically all pagan

2017-04-03 00:58:34 UTC

The story is not

2017-04-03 00:58:52 UTC

in today's modern world, yes

2017-04-03 00:59:09 UTC

No, it's pretty much been all pagan since Rome

2017-04-03 00:59:13 UTC

I'm trying to remember... My mother and I talked about this as well. She stated Easter, Christmas, and a few others were in fact originally Pagan holidays, not Christian ones.

2017-04-03 00:59:46 UTC

My mother has been doing Bible study for pretty much her entire life, so I tend to go by what she tells me.

2017-04-03 00:59:56 UTC

Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Christ, and Easter is the celebration of the resurrection of Christ. I don't see how that is pagan in concept.

2017-04-03 01:00:12 UTC

Yeah, the story isn't pagan

2017-04-03 01:00:17 UTC

But basically all of the traditions are

2017-04-03 01:00:25 UTC

^

2017-04-03 01:00:33 UTC

oh ok yes that i agree with

2017-04-03 01:00:37 UTC

Gift giving, trees, mistletoe, etc

2017-04-03 01:00:43 UTC

yeah all of that nonsense

2017-04-03 01:01:17 UTC

Christmas has become more commercial than religious. However, I suppose it almost always was.

2017-04-03 01:01:28 UTC

tru!

2017-04-03 01:02:12 UTC

Post-modernism is one step away from hell.

2017-04-03 01:02:49 UTC

Remind me what that is again? We don't really touch on that topic too often.

2017-04-03 01:03:11 UTC

im a grill

2017-04-03 01:03:24 UTC
